  17. Description of Working Group:
  18.  
  19. This Working Group will specify management information and protocols
  20. necessary to manage IP-based and OSI-based LANs and WANs in the
  21. Internet based on OSI Management standards and drafts, NIST
  22. Implementors Agreements and NMF Recommendations. It will also provide
  23. input to ANSI, ISO, NIST and NMF based on experience in the Internet,
  24. and thereby influence the final form of OSI International Standards on
  25. management.

  28. Goals and Milestones: 
  29.  
  30.           Develop implementors agreements for implementation of CMIP over TCP 
  31.           and CMIP over OSI.                                                   
  32.  
  33.           Develop extensions to common IETF SMI to satisfy requirements for 
  34.           management of the Internet using OSI management models and protocols.
  35.  
  36.           Develop extensions to common IETF MIB-II to satisfy requirements for 
  37.           management of the Internet using OSI management models and protocols.
  38.  
  39.           Develop prototype implementations based on protocol implementors 
  40.           agreements, IETF OIM Extended SMI and Extended MIB.                  
  41.  
  42.           Promote development of products based on OIM agreements.             
  43.  
  44.           Provide input to the ANSI, ISO, NIST and NMF to influence development
  45.           of OSI standards and implementors agreements.                        
  46.  
  47.           Completion of the following drafts: Implementors Agreements, Event   
  48.           Management, SMI Extensions, MIB Extensions, OSI Management Overview, 
  49.           Guidelines for the Definition of Internet Managed Objects.
